Dr. Andre E. Johnson is a Professor of Rhetoric and Media Studies at the University of Memphis. He is a 2023-2024 Mellon Satellite Partner working with the Center for Black Digital Research studying the southern conventions (Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama) of the Colored Convention Movement. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Memphis and studies at the intersection of rhetoric, race, and religion. His research areas include (African American) rhetoric and public address, religious communication, social movements, and Bishop Henry McNeal Turner.
