Digital Projects Developer and Assistant Research Professor of Digital Scholarship, Penn State University
Biography:

Appointed as an Assistant Research Professor of Digital Scholarship, Dr. Hamilton joined the College of Liberal Arts to support projects emerging from “Just Transformations: A College of the Liberal Arts Initiative Toward Building and Sustaining Diverse Communities in Higher Education.” Working primarily with the Center for Black Digital Research #digblk, she provides methodological and technical support for existing and future digital scholarship projects, most of which focus on recuperating and disseminating historically underrepresented archival material in online digital platforms.

Dr. Hamilton graduated from Southern Methodist University with a PhD in English (2021), with a focus on African American Literature during the Jim Crow era. Prior to beginning her PhD, Hamilton completed her MA in English and a BS in Computer Science. She worked for a decade as a senior systems analyst and was an Associate Director of Enrollment Services—Financial Aid Systems at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. While ABD, she was a member of the English faculty at The Hockaday School, an independent all-girls college preparatory school.
