Biography:

Pheolyn Allen joined the Center for Black Digital Research as a #DigBlk Scholar in Fall of 2021 at Penn State University and is a 2021-2022 Bunton-Waller Fellow. They hold a Bachelor in Media Arts from the University of North Texas, where they served as an instructor for the UNT Media Arts Lab, educating marginalized communities and foster youth in media pedagogy and filmmaking techniques. Their research areas include Afrofuturism, Early 20th Century African American Literature, the Harlem Renaissance, Afro Diasporic Folklore and Mythos, and Queer Theory.
